Fruit Fluff

Fruit Fluff

Low carb, high protein fruit dip has never tasted better! I wanted to find a cooler name for this recipe, but my children would never allow it. They are very protective when it comes to their favorite fruit condiment! This stuff is so addictive, I make it every week because it’s one treat, I know I could serve anytime!

Low carb, high protein fruit dip

I enjoy fruit dip, but a low carb, high protein fruit dip? I don’t have to feel guilty eating this dessert because it’s not impacting my body like the store-bought fruit dip. This contains no sugar; no preservatives, it’s low in carbohydrates and I feel good about every one of the ingredients I chose!

Should I use cream cheese just because it’s low carb?

I use cream cheese in this recipe not just because it’s delicious and low carb, but because cream cheese contains antioxidants. The reason antioxidants are so import is because they protect our bodies from free radicals in our environments. Free radicals caused by pollution, pesticides, Industrial solvents, and more are just a part of our everyday life. Through consumption of antioxidants, you are guarding your cells from damage. Although cream cheese is high in fat and calories and that can sound scary to a lot of people watching their waistline, we like cream cheese here because she protects us at a molecular level. In just 1 ounce of cream cheese you will get 87 mg of vitamin A! This vitamin is also fat-soluble, so the fats here are working for you!

What not just use a little sugar since I’m focusing on low carb, high protein?

The most important reason I cut sugar out of my diet is because I was addicted to sugar. Addiction to sugar stops you from hitting your health goals. Every time you consume sugar your body releases endogenous opiates and dopamine. The release of chemicals in your brain makes sugar as addictive, biologically, as cocaine and opioids. These addictions caused me to use sweet snacks as a means of feeling good, instead of fueling my body.

Protein and fats are better fuel choices than sugar and carbs when you are trying not to overeat! Although your body’s first choice fuel to burn is glucose. When your body is running off sugar and carbs, it only wants more and more. When you don’t give your body those options, it goes straight for the kill on fat, both in your digestive system and what’s stored! My unhealthy relationship with sugar and refined carbs was causing me to constantly gain weight. This is why I pointed the gun at my sugar consumption, and when I finally pulled the trigger, I started seeing big results!

What sweetener should I use?

There are so many good sweeteners on the market right now and it can be hard to choose which one you are going to use! Monk fruit, Stevia, Erythritol are some really good ones to name a few! Swerve is an easy to find blend that is very convenient and affordable. When it comes to sweeteners, nothing hits quite like sugar, so that’s why I created my own blend of sweeteners. Of course, these sweeteners won’t spike your blood sugar level, or give you that “sugar high” like sugar does, but the taste is what I’ve found to be closest to sugar. I grind my sweeteners down from granulated crystals to a fine powder, and this mixes best into desserts, sauces, and drinks.

For my custom blend I use Xylitol, Erythritol and Stevia. These wholesome ingredients actually come together to closely resemble sugar to your pallet and are much gentler on your body in several ways! Fruit Fluff

Fruit Fluff is a sugar free high protein fruit dip! I'm normally not the biggest fan of berries, but now I go through so many! I mix in sliced strawberries and blueberries for volume, my husband adds sugar free Nutella and chocolate chips, and my youngest eats this by itself. I'm not kidding when I say we are obsessed with this stuff! Every time I take this somewhere, I don't even bother telling my friends it's sugar free, they don't believe me anyways!

Equipment

  • 1 Food Processor A hand mixer or stand mixer works well here too!
  • 1 Rubber tip spatula

Ingredients

  • 1.5 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream I sub. 1/3 fat!
  • 1 8 oz Package Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Protein Powder Sugar free, whey
  • 1/2 Cup Sweetener
  • 1-2 Tsp Vanilla

Instructions

  • Gather your ingredients, if you are using a hand mixer or stand mixer, make sure you set your cream cheese sit out beforehand to soften.
  • Whip your heavy whipping cream until it forms stiff peaks.
  • Add remaining ingredients. Process until smooth!
  • Enjoy 🙂

Notes

If this comes out too thick, I make the recipe the consistency I want by adding more heavy whipping cream or a little almond milk, just do a tiny splash at a time!
Do not over mix the recipe, stop when stiff peaks appear in the heavy whipping cream and when you mix in the cream cheese and remaining ingredients, stop when smooth and combined! Overmixing will result in butter forming and that is not what we are going for here!
